U.S. Wrecks and Obstructions

Wrecks and Obstructions data covers the coastal regions of the 49 U.S. States (excluding Hawaii), the District of Columbia and the Great Lakes. The data currently contains approximately 10,000 wrecks and obstructions.

Each feature appears as a small symbol. Many wrecks are identified by the name of the wrecked vessel. This text appears under the symbol when the cursor is placed near the symbol.

	Wreck, visible - The remains of a stranded or sunken vessel that is normally visible from above water.
	Wreck, dangerous submerged - The remains of a stranded or sunken vessel that is normally not visible from above the water, and this is a hazard to surface navigation.
	Wrecks, non-dangerous submerged - The remains of a stranded or sunken vessel that is not visible from above water, and that is deep enough (usually more than 20 meters) that it is not a hazard to surface navigation.
	Obstruction, visible - Any object or structure that endangers or prevents passage of a vessel, and is normally visible from above water.
	Obstruction, awash - Any object or structure that endangers or prevents passage of a vessel, and is approximately flush with the water's surface.
	Obstruction, submerged - Any object or structure that endangers or prevents passage of a vessel, and is normally not visible from above water.
	Rock, awash - An isolated rocky formation or single large stone that is a danger to surface navigation, and that is approximately flush with the water's surface.
	Rock, covered - An isolated rocky formation or single large stone that is a danger to surface navigation, and that is normally not visible from above water.
