Firmware Upgrade for the
LEI MMC/SD Card
Reader
Note: If your MMCI-USB Interface
Card Reader has a Lowrance label or an LEI "2.0" label, rather
than the LEI label shown above, do not use this
firmware upgrade. This firmware upgrade is only for the
MMCI-USB 1.1 Interface Card Readers with an LEI
label.
Reason for Firmware
Upgrade
Some customers have experienced problems with
their LEI MMC/SD USB card readers locking up the MapCreate 6.3
software when attempting to produce a map or after inserting a
memory card. Other issues include MapCreate 6.3 attempting to
register the same card multiple times and/or creating a map
that is unreadable in a unit. Customers experiencing problems
unlocking Jeppesen Database Updates should also update their
firmware.
Note: Your LEI MMC/SD
USB card reader should be installed and operable before
performing this firmware upgrade. It may also be necessary to
install the USB 1.1
card reader driver software if you have not already done
so. Do NOT insert a memory card into the reader during the
firmware upgrade.
Note: It is also recommended that the USB card reader be the
only USB peripheral connected to the system with a minimal
number of accompanying USB devices. If possible the reader
should be connected directly to the PC instead of a USB
hub.
- Turn off all other
applications (We recommend that you disable any virus
scanning software before beginning the installation.
You can turn the virus scanning program back on after driver
installation is complete. To do this, refer to the
virus scan software's instruction manual.)
- Click on the Download
Firmware Upgrade link below.
- Download the zipped file
"eUSBDM-SD v504.zip".
- Unzip the file into a
temporary folder. In this folder you will find nine files
needed to install the firmware upgrade to your LEI MMCI-USB
Card Reader.
- Find and run "FlashIt.exe".
A screen will appear showing the current firmware version of
code and the version to be downloaded, which should be
Firmware Version 5.04. If the current firmware version is
5.14, then click "Finish" to upload the new code. This should
take about 20 seconds.
- During the Download
operation, a prompt may appear requesting the location of the
"EUSBDFU.sys" driver. Provide the path to the same folder
where FlashIt.exe resides as the "EUSBDFU.sys" file will also
be located in this folder. This is only a transitional driver
for upgrading the SCM Reader.
- Note: Windows XP users may
see a message stating that the drivers have not yet passed
the Windows XP Logo testing. This driver has been extensively
tested in Windows XP and should be safe to use. Please choose
the option to "Continue Anyway".
- Once the download operation
has completed successfully, the text "Download Completed
Successfully" will appear directly above the progress bar.
This indicates that the Reader has successfully been upgraded
with the latest revision of firmware code available. Click
the "Close" button to complete the flash upgrade and exit out
of the FlashIt utility.
- Remember to restart any
virus scan software you may have disabled.
