Lowrance Introduces New 8.4-inch Display Size in High-Color Performance Electronics

Date: 7/24/2007

Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance, a world-leading brand in marine electronics since 1957 and GPS navigational systems since 1992, introduced today a new size and new value in performance electronics as a result of popular demand from both coastal and inland anglers and boaters. For 2007, Lowrance has unveiled four new large-screen models featuring the exclusive Lowrance SolarMAXTM screen technology in a new mid-size, 8.4-inch diagonal, 16-bit color, TFT display with a high-detail 600 x 800 Super VGA resolution.

“The new 8.4-inch color display size answers a market want and need for easy-to-see viewing in a package that’s ideal for coastal and inland boat installations,” said Gordon Sprouse, director of marketing, Lowrance. “The SolarMAX display is a proprietary screen enhancement technology that maximizes viewing at the widest angles and in the brightest sunlight.”

The new 8.4-inch display is available in the LCX-series of single- and dual-frequency sonar and combo sonar/GPS+WAAS chartplotters, and GlobalMap® dedicated GPS chartplotters. Both LCX and GlobalMap units offer HD models featuring a rugged 30GB built-in hard-drive loaded with a wealth of mapping and charts for coastal and inland GPS navigation. Non-hard-drive units included NAND-FLASH memory with a built-in background map featuring over 3,000 U.S. inland lakes with depth contours. All have two waterproof slots to display affordable, high-detail mapping and charts options on plug-and-play MMC/SD cards. Supported charts include FreedomMaps

TM, Fishing Hot Spots®, LakeMaster® and NauticPathTM. Navionics® electronic charts on MMC/SD cards are also compatible.

The new 2007 Lowrance 8.4-inch line up includes the LCX-38C HD, LCX-37C (non-hard-drive), GlobalMap 8300C HD and GlobalMap 8200C (non-hard-drive). Along with a 5-pin Ethernet expansion port for high-speed networking including sonar graph sharing, and dual RS-232 interfaces for NMEA 0183 communications, all new 8.4-inch models deliver direct connectivity with NMEA 2000® DeviceNetTM networks and sensors, are completely waterproof and backed by a full one-year warranty.
