HOOK-7 is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive unit I'm very happy with my choice Bought the Hook 7 and installed it myself. It replaced a 6 year old non Lowrance unit. The performance of the chart plotter is excellent even with the base map. The fish finder with the CHIRP is quite clear and very easy to see in full sun. I fish the upper Chesapeake Bay for multi species and this unit never lost bottom, chart refreash after Zoom were quick and start up very acceptable. Negative reviews citing these as problems concerned me but proved to be no worries. I like the Downscan feature but I need more experience with it. Pages are easy to set up with information overlays. I am very happy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rather have my elite 5 back Frustrated at the time taken for the screen to load after zooming in on GPS, constantly the sonar glitches out and has to be reset, very difficult to get onto my marks accurately. And when zoomed in the screen blanks and loads nonstop which is a bloody pain when night navigating across a bar with channels and sand spits has already caused 3 near misses with running aground.... Am over this unit after 3months of use and looking to replace...I used to swear by Lowrance... Not anymore

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product I bought this product to replace my Elite 7 HDI unit under the impression it was going to perform better as it has a faster processor. I am disappointed in the refresh rate of the GPS (charts). As I am moving (driving) the chart moves down and just before it reaches the boat symbol it refreshes, this continually happens. This makes it difficult to see what is coming up on the chart until it refreshes. Also I find start up to be slow. Also When I am moving (driving) I often lose bottom and sometimes the the unit takes long to lock on bottom again.I like the different screen pages but also would have liked presets for quick access to favorite pages. Also the menu is a little difficult to use. An exit button would make things easier.Overall I am happy with this unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average Product, Slow Mapping Sonar and DI perform well. Mapping not so much. I found the mapping with the bundled Navionics card was way too slow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice fish finder. Unable to handle Navionics Chip I like all the features and quality of bottom imaging. Just beware that the unit is VERY sluggish when zooming Navionics charts. Average wait time per zoom is probably 12 seconds. Very frustrating when getting close to a waypoint. I even loaded the latest 2.0 software upgrade. Still no change. I am contemplating returning the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best fish finder I have ever owned The first time I used this I got on bass in 8'-12' of water in the middle of a channel in lake Lyman sc I fished the depth it showed fish at and caught 19 largemouth and a 2lb crappie. Very pleased with the information the hook 7x provides. Just trust it and u will catch more fish. Tommy Blackwell. Lyman sc

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Issues at higher speeds, slow I purchased this unit for my new boat and was impressed at first with the ease of use and the features, then I got my boat to higher speeds and the unit lost bottom and started to flash 1.3ft of water when I knew I was in at least 50 ft, I had to restore defaults to get it to come off 1.3ft, after this happened nearly every time, Lowrance issued a new unit and even looked at pics of my transducer placement, in addition I was on the phone with a Lowrance expert (on the lake) while trying to figure out why the new unit and transducer was doing the same thing!!! because Lowrance was very helpful along with Scheels in correcting the problem I wasn't going to try three but rather purchased an HDS-7 touch, I love it and couldn't be happier, the Hook 7 definitely has some issues, I believe that the total scan transducer has some bugs to work out however, Lowrance and Scheels were great to work with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hook 7 Purchased a few weeks ago put out bush piles set the location came 4 days later started catching crappie. Waypoints get you real close to location you mark.
