Lowrance has released the Endura 1.4 software update to enhance both the European onboard maps and software for all Endura GPS models. It also builds in the functionality to work with Navionics using the Navionics viewer as well as Americas marine mapping - Fishing Hot Spots Pro and LakeMaster - on microSD. This allows an Endura GPS to be a complimentary product to a true marine system.
The new Endura 1.4 software is a free download and is recommended for all European Endura GPS products. The 1.4 update also has built in capability to perform the 1.2 and 1.3 updates if a GPS is operating with older software.
Key 1.4 Update Enhancements
- Updates the European base maps with improved coastline and railroad detail
- Improved land use data – symbology and colors for various land types for better readability
- Improved hydrography – display of intermittent streams and lesser waterways has been deemphasized to improve readability of other features
- Add compatibility for Endura to plug-and-play marine fishing/mapping content i.e. Navionics (viewer only), as well as Americas marine mapping - Fishing Hot Spots Pro and LakeMaster - available on microSD
- Various other minor enhancements or bug fixes

System Requirements
Java must be installed on your computer for the installers to operate. If you do not already have a Java installed, please visit the
Java website. Lowrance HDS update software will run on any Java-enabled machine running Windows® 98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista, Mac OS X, or Linux.
Troubleshooting
Please first try to download the stand-alone installer for your operating system. Choose the appropriate operating system below:
PC Win98/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista |
Mac OS X* |
Linux
*Mac OS X users may need to reapply the execute permissions to the stand-alone installer after it has finished downloading. To reapply the execute permissions, open a Terminal window, and type the following command (this assumes you downloaded the file to your desktop): chmod +x desktop/Endura_1_4_EMEA.command
Copy the update to your microSD card
- Make sure the microSD card reader is properly connected to your computer (and, if necessary, that the drivers are installed).
Note: If you do not have a microSD card reader, you can use the Endura GPS unit as a card reader. You will need a standard mini-USB to USB cable (provided with the Safari and Sierra models) to connect the Endura unit to your PC.
- Insert a microSD card (with at least 150 MB free) into your PC’s card reader.
If using the Endura unit as a card reader, ensure the microSD is fully inserted into the bottom of the unit while power is off. Connect the Endura to your PC via the USB cable which should then power on the Endura unit and recognize the microSD card.
- Click on the "- Copy the update to your SD/MMC card - " link below to go to the installation web page.
- Wait for the Java web installer to download and run. Follow the Lowrance update installation instructions. If you are not sure about a step, just select the default choice.
- When the installer finishes you will be prompted to click Finish to exit. This step will copy the Installer.exe file to the root of the microSD card.
Installing the 1.4 software update on your Endura GPS
- Remove the microSD card from the microSD card reader or if using the Endura unit as a card reader, unplug the Endura unit from the PC and ensure it is powered off.
- If not inserted already, place the microSD card containing the software update into the card slot in the bottom of the Endura until it locks in place.
- Turn Endura unit on (either by battery or USB power) and the software update will automatically begin the installation on the device. Follow the prompts as instructed. The V 1.4 update for all Endura models will take less than 5 minutes to complete.
- Once the software update is completed, the screen will read “The upgrade has completed successfully. You can now remove microSD card and reboot device”.
- Remove the microSD card from the unit, and restart the unit.
- Note: Be sure to remove the microSD as restarting the GPS with the card in will restart the 1.4 installation process.
If for some reason you have a problem with both the web installer and the stand-alone installer, or if you wish to load the update file to your Endura unit yourself, use the instructions here.
How to see if your Endura is already using version 1.4 software:
- Insert the microSD card containing the 1.4 Update into the Endura unit and power on.
- If the update has already been installed on a device, it will not re-install a 2nd time and you will receive a message saying "This unit has already been upgraded with the 1.4 update".
