GlobalMap 6600C HD Update Version 2.1.0

Warning:

If you have an LGC-2000 GPS receiver/antenna connected to your unit, please update the LGC-2000 at this link before proceding with the update on this page.

Notes: Mac OS X users may need to reapply the execute permissions to the stand-alone installer after it has finished downloading. To reapply the execute permissions, open a Terminal window, and type the following command (this assumes you downloaded the file to your desktop):
chmod +x desktop/GM6600CHD_210.command

Prerequisite: Java must be installed on your computer for the installers to operate. If you do not already have a Java JRE or JDK installed, please visit the Java website.

Installation Instructions
  1. Make sure the MMC/SD card reader is properly connected to your computer (and, if necessary, that the drivers are installed).
  2. Insert an MMC/SD card with at least 8 MB of free space into the MMC/SD card reader.
  3. Click on the "Install This Update From the Web" link below to go to the installation web page.
  4. Wait for the Java web installer to download and run. Follow the Lowrance update installation instructions. If you are not sure about a step, just select the default choice. When the installer finishes you will prompted to click Finish to exit.
  5. Turn your Lowrance GlobalMap 6600C HD unit off.
  6. Place the MMC/SD card containing the updated operating software in the unit's MMC/SD card tray.
  7. Turn your GlobalMap 6600C HD unit on. The software update will automatically install.

If your computer experiences problems with the web installer, try using a stand-alone installer. Simply choose the appropriate operating system below:

How to see if your GlobalMap 6600C HD is already using version 2.1.0 software:
  1. Press the MENU button twice on your GlobalMap 6600C HD.
  2. Select SYSTEM SETUP.
  3. Select SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
  4. The software version for your unit is located under the line that says "GlobalMap 6600C HD" (ex. "Version 2.1.0").
  5. If your version is the same version listed above, there is no need to download the software.

    • Added Automatic GPS Selection - With this new feature, the user can have multiple GPS modules on their vessel and the head unit will automatically select the GPS module with the best position error, giving the user the best lock at all times and providing means as a fail safe for long voyages
    • Added Hard Drive Interface - 1) Log GPS user data to the hard drive without having to use SD/MMC cards, and 2) Store up to 10GB of GPS user data such as waypoints, event markers, routes, and plot trails
    • Added Gauge Pages - These "blank canvases" allow for endless customization of overlay data and analog gauges
    • Improved access times to SD and MMC cards
