MapCreate™ Series 5

The MapCreate™ series 5 GPS mapping program provides powerful, easy-to-use custom mapping capabilities with a level of detail unmatched by competing applications. MapCreate™ 5 contains so much enhanced map detail that it requires two CD-ROMs to hold it all!

Disc one contains maps for the eastern United States and the rest of the world outside the U.S. Disc two covers the western United States. The U.S. database includes the 48 contiguous states and Hawaii; Alaska is included in the International database.

This CD set helps you add extra detail to specific areas found on the background map included with your GPS unit. You can create your own custom-sized, enhanced maps and download them to your GPS unit. With MapCreate™ 5, you can match the map to almost any travel or outdoor adventure.

MapCreate™ 5 is included with a GlobalMap®3000mt. It's available as the optional MapCreate™ 5 Accessories Pack for the LCX-15 or LCX-16 sonar/GPS combination units. The package for the gimbal mount GlobalMap® and LCX units includes the software, an MMC Interface card reader with parallel PC cable and one 8 MB MMC with a Lowrance background map pre-loaded.

MapCreate™ 5 lets you create travel routes and waypoints on the PC and then load them into your GPS. You can control the level of detail included in your custom maps by turning individual information categories on or off before creating the maps.

MapCreate™ 5 contains an improved "cookie cutter" feature, which offers two different ways to drag a mouse and easily set boundaries for the specific map areas you want. This allows you to load just the map information you need while conserving memory space in your GPS.

MapCreate™ 5 also helps you manage and store routes, waypoints and plot trails created by your GPS unit in the field. You can save and reuse a trail you followed to a favored fishing hole or other destination.

This MapCreate™ version is so detailed and easy to use that it also makes a handy reference atlas for your PC. You can use it as a geography study aid for teachers or students, scout a dream vacation location or pre-plan your next business trip or recreational adventure.

What's new in version 5:
In addition to the elaborate detail, MapCreate™ 5 offers an improved user interface that's easy on the eyes and significantly easier to navigate and manipulate.

Some of the new features include:
Maps contain more color for better detail definition and easier viewing.
There are several new ways to zoom in and out. The zoom-in selection box lets you click and drag to quickly see the level of detail you desire on screen. A zoom pull down menu lets you select from a long list of preset zoom ranges. If you have a scroll mouse, you can click in the zoom window and scroll down to zoom in and scroll up to zoom out.
The main map window can be resized by dragging with a mouse.
New information windows and toolbars are available for various map feature categories. These can be individually turned off or on, automatically arranged on the screen, or resized with the mouse to suit your viewing needs.
Landmark symbols are visible over a broader range of zoom views, making it easier to locate a landmark.
In wider zoom views, landmark symbols are visible but appear without names. But, you can move the cursor over a feature symbol for a moment and a pop-up name box appears. This allows you to zoom to a wide view – covering many square miles – and still "read" landmark names.
Waypoints, routes, and trails are visible on the computer along with the map.
Waypoints and routes can be created on the computer using the displayed map.
MapCreate™ 5 constantly displays the cursor's latitude and longitude in a status bar at the bottom of the screen.
Custom maps can be created for areas outside the United States.
The corridor map boundary feature lets you plan a route, then automatically create a narrow corridor map for the route. This is handy for those long distance journeys when you need to conserve GPS memory.
You can create a route from a previously traveled plot trail by converting the trail to a route. The new route can then yield a corridor map as mentioned above.
GPS data management features allow you to share waypoints, routes, trails and icons with family and friends using compatible Lowrance devices and software. Even long distance friends can share GPS data by mailing files on diskette, MMC card or by e-mailing them.
MapCreate™ 5 can exchange archive route and waypoint information with MapCreate™ series 4. MapCreate™ 5 can also connect directly to some older Lowrance units to exchange GPS data, but not maps.

MapCreate™ series 5 is fully compatible with LCX-16CI, LCX-15CT, LCX-15MT, and GlobalMap® 3000MT.

Minimum system requirements:
IBM® compatible PC with Pentium® 133 MHz or faster processor, 32 MB RAM, 50 MB free hard drive space, 256 color (VGA) display, CD-ROM drive, Microsoft® Windows® 95 or later.
