Troubleshooting
For difficulty downloading the software update from the web and loading it on your microSD card, check the following:
- Make sure you are downloading the correct software version for your specific Endura model.
- The downloaded file will be a Zip file. Make sure you are following all instructions for saving this file to your computer desktop or other file location where you can find it.
- Click on the Zip file to open it and select to Extract all files to a folder. Most PCs and all MACs have software preloaded that can open and extract Zip files. If you have difficulty with this with your PC, go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259177 for more information and recommended Zip programs.
- Copy all files within the new folder to your microSD card. Make sure that your computer is recognizing that the microSD card is connected using a microSD card reader or SD adapter. Make sure the microSD is fully inserted into the reader or SD adapter.
- If the software installation does not want to start when you power the Endura GPS on with the microSD card with software files inserted, then reconnect the microSD card to your computer and remove all files NOT part of the software installation from the microSD card. The purpose for this is that there may be other file types loaded onto the microSD card that are interfering with the software .exe file from running.
For difficulty after running the download on your Endura GPS, first restart the Endura and let it go through the new software startup. If you see the Language Selection screen, the software loaded successfully. Make your language selection and the unit will continue the startup process. If the unit does not complete start up and seems to be stuck on the Endura model splash screen, disconnect power by removing the batteries, wait 30 seconds, reinsert the batteries and restart by pushing the Power button.
Copy the update to your microSD card
- Click on the Endura 1.5.1 software update link below. Note: If you download the wrong installer file, it will not work on your Endura unit.
- Once the zip file is saved to your computer, click on the Zip file to open it and select to Extract the Installer.exe file to a folder. Do NOT save these files directly to your microSD card as it will save them within a new Endura 1.5.1 software folder (the actual file name will vary by model and region). If the files are loaded onto the microSD card but are in the new folder, the installer will not work when you power the Endura on to begin the software loading process.
- Insert a microSD card (with at least 30 MB free) into your PC's card reader. A blank freshly formatted microSD card is recommended. If using the Endura unit as a card reader, ensure the microSD is fully inserted into the bottom of the unit while power is off. Connect the Endura to your PC via the USB cable which should then power on the Endura unit and recognize the microSD card.
- Select and Copy the Installer. exe file within the new folder to your microSD card.
Installing the 1.5.1 software update on your Endura GPS
- Remove the microSD card from the microSD card reader or if using the Endura unit as a card reader, unplug the Endura unit from the PC and ensure it is powered off.
- If not inserted already, place the microSD card containing the software update into the card slot in the bottom of the Endura until it locks in place.
- Turn Endura unit on (either by battery or USB power) and the software update will automatically begin the installation on the device. Follow the prompts as instructed. The V 1.5.1 update for all Endura models will take less than 5 minutes to complete.
- Once the software update is completed, the screen will read the download information and give instructions to "Press any key to continue".
- At that point remove the microSD card from the Endura unit and push the 'Mark' button to restart the unit. If you are connected to the computer with a USB cable, you will need to disconnect the cable and restart for the software to reboot. If download was successful, it should load and stop on the Language Selection screen.
- Note: Be sure to remove the microSD as restarting the GPS with the card in will go back to the software information and "Press any key to continue" screen.
How to see if your Endura Sierra is already using version 1.5.1 software:
- Turn the Endura GPS on and allow to proceed through the normal boot cycle. The Main Menu screen will appear after startup.
- Go to the Map page by pushing the Pages button or by clicking on Map at the top of the Main Menu screen.
- On the Map page, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds until you hear a beep or the 'About' page appears. On the About page, it will read Lowrance Endura on the first line and the software update version on the same line.
- If it reads 'V 1.5.xxxxx NA Safari' or something similar including 1.5.1, then the update is current.
- If it reads 'V 1.4.xxxxx', then your update is not complete and you will need to complete V 1.5 Update.
- If your GPS unit reads 'V 1.0.xxxxx', you will need to complete the V 1.1 Update update for your region.
